Dragonaroid

Dragonaroid Version 1.2 (2024-05-01) by Zhaolong is vastly improved over the previous 2023 release. Dragonaroid began as a passion project to create an experience worth playing while learning the Godot Engine. Feedback from the original release of Dragonaroid lead to continued development to make the game even better than before. The game is designed for quick and simple arcade fun for short periods of play, making it a more action-based alternative to other casual games like Freecell and Minesweeper.

Dragonaroid is a game similar to the arcade classic Asteroids, but with better graphics, control, and a new feature: Dragon Powers! Fly the Dragon ship through space and use Dragon Fire to burn asteroids and roidlets to pieces. Become invincible to asteroids with the Dragon Scale power and traverse space with impunity. Beware the incursion of drones and centipedes, which will seek out the Dragonship and attempt to end the Dragon's crusade of justice against floating space rocks.

The ship in Dragonaroid is more advanced than those in other Asteroids style games. The ship has a shield system that can save it from damage. One asteroid or roidlet will not be able to destroy the Dragonship until the shield is very depleted. Dragonaroid is more fun and forgiving than other arcade titles and encourages the player to fly across space exterminating asteroids with Dragon firepower.

Dragonaroid features the art of its creator, Zhaolong, as well as the music of Liborio Conti and the Orbitron font by Matt McInerney. This game has been tested on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems and does not require the latest OpenGL release to play.
